Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is right around the corner (unless a blue shell hits it of course!) and here at Hexir, we are huge Mario Kart fans. That is why today we are having a little look at some of our favorite Mario Kart games that have come before Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch.
Super Mario Kart: SNES
The original Super Mario Kart was a lot of fun and where it all started. One of the weirdest things is the way that Donkey Kong Junior drives around the track without his hands on the steering wheel! Speaking of Donkey Kong, while it may not be Junior. We have this awesome DKPlush that has him holding a barrel. Super Mario Kart is one of the best games on the SNES and it was it's very best when you were going head to head with a buddy.
Mario Kart 64: N64
Speaking of head to head you do not get much better when it comes to multiplayer than Mario Kart 64. Offering four player action, Mario Kart 64 was an awesome time when you had three buddies sitting right next to you. No matter if you were just having standard races or playing battle mode, Mario Kart 64 was always a ton of fun. Mario Kart 64 was a tremendous game, but we do feel that Diddy Kong Racing has it beat….. but only just. Still, if you love Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing as much as we do then you may be interested in this awesome and very affordable Nintendo mini figures pack that mixes DK characters with Mario characters.
Mario Kart DS: Nintendo DS
You know there are still some people who say that Mario Kart DS is the pinnacle of the series and we can see why. Mario Kart DS introduced many cool elements to the series. The most notable one was the fun as hell challenge mode. Not only was challenge mode a great way to sharpen your skills that you use in Mario Kart GP mode. It on its own merit was a fantastic game mode. With a ton of different karts and characters, Mario Kart DS is just as much fun to play today as it was when it was first released. By the way speaking of characters. If you love the different incarnations of Mario, then you will get a real kick out of our Rosalina Plush.
Mario Kart Double Dash: Nintendo GameCube
With a huge cast of characters, Mario Kart Double Dash was a game that was a ton of fun. Not everyone was thrilled with the tag team racing of Double Dash, but we always had a good time with it. Especially if you had three buddies so you could play four player co-op. While Mario Kart Double Dash was a really fun game to play. It also was a huge step up graphically for the franchise. As a matter of fact, we feel the visuals still hold up very well to this day! If you loved the tag team style racing of Mario Kart then check out these awesome Mario Riding Yoshi Plush, we bet Yoshi wishes Mario was riding in the back of his car, instead of on his back!
So there you have it, a few of our favorite Mario Kart games. Of course, we freaking loved Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, but we are so excited for the Nintendo Switch version we thought we would save talking about Mario Kart 8!
