About Character:
- Ruth is a Church Grim in The Ancient Magus' Bride, a supernatural guardian spirit bound to a graveyard. He was originally a dog named Ulysses whose strong attachment to his owner caused him to remain as a protective spirit after death. After encountering Chise Hatori, Ruth forms a magical contract with her and becomes her familiar, allowing him to transform between a black dog and a human-like form. As Chise's familiar, Ruth shares senses and magical energy with her and assists her during encounters with fae, spirits, and other supernatural threats within the magecraft world.
